Today we continued to discuss story elements. Use the reading below to assist you in filling out the charts.

Ponyboy Curtis, a member of the greasers, a gang of poor East Side kids in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Other members of his group include Darry, Sodapop, Johnny, and Dallas. The Socials bother the Greasers because they think they are better than that other group. The socials and greasers are constantly fighting and get to a point where Johnny kills one of the Socials in self-defense. Johnny and Ponyboy then have to run away because they are in conflict. The themes in The Outsiders are friendship, don't judge others , and divided communities.
